John Dean

John G. Dean IV, MS/MBA/MPA, CDFM, is the Associate Director of Defense Programs at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management, where he instructs and administers graduate-level defense education programs, including the Defense Comptrollership Program and the Army Comptroller Course, for active duty military and DoD civilian financial managers. A retired Army Lieutenant Colonel with over 35 years of combined military, government, and academic experience, he is a graduate of the Syracuse University Defense Comptrollership Program and the Eisenhower School at the National Defense University. His final DoD position was Chief of Coordination and Contingency at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. His final active duty assignment was Chief of CBRNE Plans and Operations at U.S. Army North. He publishes on defense policy, national security, and civil-military relations at Strategy Without Noise.
