Haley Smith

Haley Smith is a PhD Candidate in Defense Studies at King’s College London, specialising in anti-submarine warfare, maritime strategy, and NATO security cooperation. Her research focuses on Anglo-American naval cooperation, undersea warfare, alliance integration, and contemporary maritime strategic competition, with particular emphasis on the Atlantic, Indo-Pacific, and Arctic maritime domains. She is affiliated with the Sir Michael Howard Center for the History of War and the Corbett Center for Maritime Policy Studies at King’s College London.   Smith currently works with the Economic Conflict & Competition Research Group (ECCRG), working in partnership with the United Kingdom Ministry of Defense’s Secretary of State’s Office for Net Assessment and Challenge (SONAC). Her work examines maritime deterrence, undersea security, and strategic competition.
