It’s the first time a Ranger has returned to the scene and he took along fellow Army Ranger Keni Thomas and a film crew to record his experience.

The result is a powerful short film called Return to Mogadishu

An interesting short film, all too short; it became clear the streets of Mogadishu remain unsafe for such visiting Americans so it is understandable.

What was interesting was the footage of street life and towards the end more residential areas – with temporary structures in view.

As the BBC Radio Four ‘From Our Correspondent’ reporter who was visiting Somaliland recently for a book fair – why as so much been spent in Somalia, for little gain compared to peaceful, developing Somaliland?
