When talking about History of COIN, it’s quite often don’t study the Spanish case in the Prtectorate of Moroco during the 20’s last century.

The linked document is very useful to study an other case of succesful COIN a part from the well known cases in Argelia or Malaysia.

I would recommend reading Che, Mao, Fanon, and other insurgent writings as well. We have preached to our young officers and enlisted for years to “think like the enemy,” but do we ever actually study the enemy? Insurgents do follow doctrine, by happenstance at times, but they do.
