Michael Hanson

Major Michael A. Hanson is a Marine Infantry Officer who currently serves in Warfighting at The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, where the Marine Corps trains newly commissioned officers in the character and skills required to serve as provisional rifle platoon commanders. Over the course of six deployments, he has served in Iraq, Okinawa, Romania, and aboard ship, among other places. He is a member of the team behind The Connecting File, a Substack newsletter for company level infantry leaders. A frequent contributor to the Marine Corps Gazette and United States Naval Institute’s Proceedings, he began his passion for writing with The Small Wars Journal.
