As an aside as we consider revolution and resistance, I would like to call attention to the great project at the US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) call the Assessing Revolution and Insurgent Strategies (ARIS). I recommend downloading and reading the Introduction to ARIS to guide you through the multitude of resources that provide the intellectual foundation for the study of revolution, resistance, insurgency, and unconventional, irregular, and political warfare. This project is one of the most valuable resources for understanding these phenomena.
