Interesting article which echoes the fears of the Arab and Middle East world but in fine fails to see what is really happening.
Yes it is the first time since Ottoman Empire that… But it is not what is happening with the separation of North and South Sudan. Or may be it is what is happening for Middle East but definitively not for the Sudanese, in South as in North. This separation is artificial as the viability of the South is not reduced to Abyei, far from it.
I would be Israel, I would look at the creation of a almost collapsed state with almost open borders with Somalia and Eritrea with less anger against Bashir and little more apprehension.
