Recent podcast from Cato Institute titled, “Cybersecurity: A Meaningless Term” (6:33). Jim Harper says that we are not at risk of cyber-terrorism or cyber attack because terror is not likely to be inflicted as a result of a cyber-attack and because we have so much “firepower” with which to respond, which acts as a deterrent. I don’t think that I share his optimism in that regard, though he also goes on to suggest some (apparently) simple countermeasures, such as establishing dedicated networks separate from the commercial web, making greater use of encryption, et cetera, which seems logical. Selil also has a timely post.
