Small Wars Journal and our discussion board, Small Wars Council, are operated by Small Wars Foundation, a private company. We are not a government site. This page outlines our privacy policy and our commitment to you.
We respect your privacy. We will not willingly and knowingly release your personal information to any entity, private or governmental. We do not and will never sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
SWJ uses commercial web counters to analyze page views and other aggregate usage patterns, in order to improve and market the site. This does NOT involve the collection or use of your personal information.
SWJ uses blogging software throughout the site to provide functionality and interactivity. In order to reduce spam, we require you to login with a TypeKey account before you can post comments. TypeKey is a respected, free authentication service providing you a central identity for posting comments on blogs and logging into other websites. TypeKey is completely pseudonymous, meaning that no personally identifying information is required to use it. TypeKey is used on thousands of websites. Find out more about TypeKey or register for free.
We require a verified e-mail address for your registration at Small Wars Council, again to reduce spam. You participate in the Council pseudonymously by the username you choose during registration. Your e-mail address is never displayed by the system in the forums or online profile. We will only use your e-mail address for essential communications from the administrators related to the management of the discussion board. Small Wars Council is powered by vBulletin, Jelsoft's industry leading software package offering many security and privacy features to protect you, us, and our registered users. vBulletin provides various settings in its User Control Panel that allow you to control communication preferences and the information, if any, that you choose to present in your profile. vBulletin also offers private messaging features that allow you to communicate with other registered users without disclosing your e-mail address. You can find out more about using vBulletin in the Small Wars Council FAQs or at Jelsoft's vBulletin website.
We welcome your e-mails and other correspondence with SWJ. When you contact us, we may quote or reference you in our pages and works, using our judgment and discretion when deciding whether or how to do so. If you have any concerns or specific limitations you would like to place on material you send us, communicate them clearly when you transmit the material. If you are overly concerned, don't send it.
