Kyle Ramsay

Kyle Ramsay is a Professor of Practice with the Future Security Initiative in the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University and an Associate Editor at Small Wars Journal. A retired Canadian Infantry Soldier, Officer, and public servant, he is a national security professional with experience leading coalition and partner forces during combat operations. His research focuses on the enduring utility of persistent multi-domain capacity building operations (CBOs) as instruments of national security policy and on proactively mitigating the environmental and sociopolitical drivers of insecurity and conflict through integrated security and governance assistance programs. His current work examines the institutional and operational challenges of developing and enforcing normative systems of behaviour that enable safe, secure, and predictable domestic security environments. Drawing on operational experience, he works to bridge the cognitive gap between strategic policy and operational realities to more effectively align national security objectives with the complexities of modern conflict and contested security environments.
