About the Author

Martin Gabriel was born in Klagenfurt (Austria) in 1983, studied history at the University of Klagenfurt (2002-2007), and wrote his Master Thesis on the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. His publications include works on 19th century European political history, military history of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy (especially the Balkans), and counterinsurgency warfare. He is currently employed at the University of Klagenfurt’s Department for Information and Documentation in the Field of History / Austrian Historical Bibliography, and as lecturer with a focus on the history of imperialism and military history.
