CTC Islamic State Report & Resources

This is the gateway to resources, research, and analysis the Combating Terrorism Center has produced over the last decade about the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also referred to as the Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham (ISIS), the Islamic State (IS) or Da`ish, and its predecessors (al-Tawhid wa-al-Jihad, al-Qa`ida in Mesopotamia (AQI), Majlis Shura al-Mujahidin, Hilf al-Muttayibin and the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI)). Additional CTC research and analysis about factors shaping the conflict in Iraq and Syria is also included. These resources contextualize the development of ISIL. Resources are organized into six categories: major reports, CTC Sentinel articles, CTC Perspectives, CTC commentary about the early development of AQI, declassified primary sources produced by AQI, ISI and other militant groups in Iraq, and media coverage of the CTC’s research. And SWJ has not been involved in being hit by "weaponized code and information"?

The next generation of warfare is even inside SWJ.

In my and my customers world's---one would never click on any link stating "click here for more information".

Seriously one of the most respected by me at least organizations that was doing excellent Iraqi insurgency research work even in 2004/5 on the Iraq insurgency and since then has tied into the Harmony database which has provided greater insight--it is a total shame that particular database is classified even though the documents and videos in it were never classified and cannot be classified.

One of their research products was 2006 The Islamic Imagery Project on the visuals being used by the Iraqi insurgency groups in their video releases---something that until today is still vastly overlooked in their info war videos and drives their recruitment and IO videos. Virtually no one on the Intel side in Iraq nor interrogators ever paid attention to the research paper.

I have used that research product for years and it is still as valid today as it was in 2006 if one wants to get into the IS mindset and understand just how they use a video with all the built in symbols to send their message to other Muslims and yet we never seemed to care about it.

A shame they did not keep it up to date.

Again a wealth of knowledge comes out of that organization.
