Ian Edgerly is the Senior Regional Expertise and Culture (REC) Instructor for the US Army’s 1st Special Forces Command (A). In his role he manages and directs the 1st SFC (A) REC initiative. He is himself a prior PSYOP officer having served within their AFRICOM-oriented regional battalion. His academic focus orients his efforts towards understanding underlying drivers of extremism, nationalism and its foundations, drivers of conflict and war, geostrategy/security, and international relations writ large.
