Dan Kolva

LTC Dan Kolva was assigned to the Joint Staff in December 2014 and currently serves as a Joint Targeting Officer in the Joint Staff Intelligence Directorate. He served his first assignment in Ft. Bliss, Texas as a PATRIOT Fire Control Platoon Leader then Battery Executive Officer for 2nd Battalion, 43rd ADA Battalion from 1998-2000.  Following assignments included Battery Commander, C Battery, 2nd of the 44th Air Defense Battalion, Ft. Campbell, KY; Assistant Professor of Military Science, Valley Forge Military College, 2003-2007; Deputy Division Chief, Analysis and Production, then Africa Branch Chief, US Army Africa, Vicenza Italy, 2008-2011; Chief, Counter Violent Extremist Organizations Team, USF-I, Baghdad, Iraq, 2010-2011; East Team Chief, Social Science Research Branch and Branch Chief 2011-2013 with USAFRICOM as well as Commander’s Action Group (CAG) Action Officer, from 2013-2014.

If countering VNSAs such as ISIL will be a long-term campaign, we will need long-term goals and objectives.
