Since we first published our “Clausewitz and Contemporary Conflict” special edition, in September 2012, we at IJ would like to draw your attention to this special edition because we now have more than 20,000 new subscribers since its release.
The text of Clausewitz’s On War is the foundation of the strategic theory to which IJ largely adheres because it is the only body of proven, coherent and well-articulated writing to exist in its field. To put it simply, “if not Clausewitz, then who?”
What you will find is a collection of six articles which each examine a particular facet or perspective on Clausewitz’s writing to better explain, illuminate or examine dimensions that may not be apparent in the original text.
As to the original text, we still urge all IJ subscribers to read On War with our corporate position being to point readers towards the J. Matthus Jolles translation rather than the Howard and Paret version.
