Kirk Talbott

BIO

Kirk Talbott, a Visiting Scholar at the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) in Washington D.C., has pursued a career linking environment, development, and law. He is researching and writing on Burma and natural resource governance opportunities and threats as well as focusing on the intersection of peace-building and natural resources law and management worldwide. Talbott has worked with a variety of NGOs on land tenure and property rights, regional conservation strategies, IT partnerships and natural resource governance.  Concentrating on Sub-Saharan African and Asian countries, Talbott specializes in civil society and institutional capacity building through demand-driven development. He has an undergraduate degree from Yale, a Master of Science in Foreign Service and Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Georgetown University and is a member of the D.C. Bar.  He has co-authored a book on property rights and published over 20 articles, served on several non-profit boards, and guest lectured at a number of universities.
