Charles Staab

BIO

Captain Charles Staab is a native of Novi, Michigan.  He entered the Army in May of 2006 after earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy and commissioned as an Infantry Officer. Following his completion of officer basic courses at Fort Benning, Captain Staab arrived at his first duty assignment with 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment (1-30 IN) of 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA.  While in 1-30 IN, Captain Staab served as a Mechanized Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer for Alpha Company, as well as the Battalion Assistant S-3 and Chief of Operations.  During this time, Captain Staab deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom V and VII, operating in Arab Jabour (South Baghdad), Sadr City, and Kirkuk.  Following redeployment from OIF VII, Captain Staab attended the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course at Fort Benning, GA and the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, NC.  Captain Staab graduated from the SFQC in May of 2012 and was assigned to Charlie Company, 4th Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) as the Detachment Commander for SFOD-A 5431.  During his time on SFOD-A 5431, Captain Staab deployed to Lebanon and Jordan in support of Counter-narcoterrorism and Security Force Assistance Operations, respectively.  In May of 2014, Captain Staab took command of SFOD-G 5422. During his time on SFOD-G 5422, Captain Staab deployed in support of Oversea Contingency Operations and combat operations under OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE.  Captain Staab is currently a graduate student in the Defense Analysis Department of the Naval Postgraduate School.
