Caleb S. Cage (1)

Caleb S. Cage is a 2002 graduate of the United State Military Academy and a veteran of OIF. His first book, The Gods of Diyala: Transfer of Command in Iraq, was co-authored by Gregory M. Tomlin and published by the Texas A & M University Press in 2008. He is a founding editor of The Nevada Review, a journal dedicated to promoting and understanding the literature of his state.

Daniel S. Avondoglio (1)

Daniel S. Avondoglio is a Lieutenant Commander with the United States Navy currently serving with a US Marine Corps Task Force in Afghanistan. He has served is various assignments in support of counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations in multiple theaters.

Steven G. Zenishek (1)

Steven G. Zenishek is a National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) employee and a student of the Eisenhower School for National Strategy and Resource Management, National Defense University. He is an Air Force veteran who served in both the Missile Combat Crew and Acquisition career fields, deployed to Saudi Arabia during Persian Gulf War and developed C2ISR systems in support of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has served in a variety of operations, headquarters staff and program management positions.

Steven Hatfill is a former member of the Selous Scouts / Special Branch.

Edward J. McDonnell III (1)

Edward J. McDonnell III, CFA has integrated a previous career in international banking into several tours of developmental diplomacy in provincial reconstruction teams, host-country institutions, a U.S. Embassy and a U.S. Army command through work with the Departments of State and Defense as well as USAID and the Peace Corps.

Bob Couture (1)

U.S. Army Pfc. Tymothy Quigg contributed to this article. Capt. Couture and Pfc.Quigg were stationed at FOB Sharana, Afghanistan in 2011-2012 with the 578th Engineer Battalion, Task Force Mad Dog Intelligence Section. The mission focused on three lines of effort: Partnership Effects, Construction Effects, and Route Clearance Effects throughout Paktika, Paktia, Khowst, and Ghazni Provinces.

Jonathan Jeckell (1)

Jonathan Jeckell is a plans and operations officer at the Army Sustainment Command at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois. He attended the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College and School of Advanced Military Studies, and completed the University of Illinois Strategic Technology Management program for entrepreneurship and innovation. Charles A. Krohn (1)

Charles A. Krohn is a retired Army lieutenant colonel who served with an infantry battalion in Vietnam, 1967-68. He is the author of The Lost Battalion of Tet.

Sean Kennedy (1)

Sean Kennedy is a Master's student at American University and will receive his degree in International Affairs-U.S. Foreign Policy in December 2011.

Martin van Creveld (1)

Dr. Martin van Creveld, formerly of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, is one of the world's leading writers on military history and strategy, with a special interest in the future of war. He is fluent in Hebrew, English, German, and Dutch, and has taught numerous courses throughout his distinguished career including Clausewitz on War, Women and War,and The Privileged Sex. He has authored twenty books. The most important among them are Supplying War (1978), Command in War (1985), The Transformation of War (1991), The Changing Face of War: Lessons of Combat from the Marne to Iraq (2006), and The Culture of War (2008). He has also published extensively on other subjects, including the history of the state, women’s history and feminism, and American history. Between them, these books have been translated, or are being translated, into seventeen languages.

Jacob Cox (1)

Major Jacob Cox is a Telecommunications Engineering Officer and Information Technology Instructor for West Point’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He holds an M.S. from Duke University and a B.S. from Clemson University. He has served in communication-related positions in U.S. Army Training Command and 2nd Infantry Division.

Chris Wachter (1)

Major Chris Wachter, USAF, is chief of the Irregular Warfare Concepts Branch for the director of operations, Headquarters, US Air Force, Washington, DC. He is responsible for developing strategy, plans, and policy to organize, train, and equip Air Force air, space, and cyberspace forces for irregular warfare. A B-1 instructor pilot who has flown combat missions in Operations Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, he previously served as the assistant director of operations for the 77^th Weapons Squadron, US Air Force Weapons School.

Philip Eles (1)

Dr Philip Eles received a PhD in physics from the University of British Columbia in 2005. He is currently a defence scientist with Defence Research and Development Canada's Center for Operational Research and Analysis. He leads a team embedded within the Canadian Expeditionary Forces Command. Since 2006, his work has focused on opinion polling, violence metrics analysis, and the evolution of the IED threat, in support of the Canadian mission in Afghanistan. In 2010, he was seconded to the AFG PAK Center at USCENTCOM.

Douglas A. Borer (1)

Dr. Douglas A. Borer is Associate Professor in the Defense Analysis Department at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California where he directs CTAP, the Combating Terrorism Archive Project, and teaches in the SOLIC and IO curricula. His research focuses on the politics of legitimacy in war and military strategy.

Joshua Thiel (1)

Major Joshua Thiel is a United States Army Special Forces Officer and graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School with a Masters of Science in Defense Analysis and a graduate of American Military University with a Masters of Arts in Low Intensity Conflict. His undergraduate degree in Economics is from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He has deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, Thailand, and Papua New Guinea, and has served in both the Infantry and Special Forces. He is assigned to 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne).
