A distinguished graduate of Air Force ROTC at Auburn University, Col (Dr.) Chambers was awarded the Doctor of Medicine as well as Master of Public Health & Tropical Medicine degrees from Tulane University in 1996. After internship, he served two years at the Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field, Florida supporting its foreign internal defense mission. He then served in the Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC for four years. Col Chambers is board-certified in both general surgery as well as plastic & reconstructive surgery. After completing a hand and microsurgery fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, he served three years as a reconstructive surgeon at the San Antonio Military Medical Center where he frequently deployed in support of global health engagement missions, including three to China. Proficient in Spanish, Portuguese, and French, he has traveled to over 50 nations. He currently directs the Air Force International Health Specialist Program at the Defense Health Headquarters in Falls Church, VA. Col Chambers has authored three books on surgical care and over twenty articles and chapters on trauma care, tropical medicine, and global health engagement. Decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, and the Aerial Achievement Medal.
