Writing Competition: “Shaping Our NATO”

Wed, 06/01/2016 - 7:40am

Greetings from the foreign policy think tank atlantic-community.org in Berlin.

In light of the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw, we have launched a competition called “Shaping Our NATO”.

We believe that the next generation of thinkers should contribute more to the debate on NATO. This competition encourages students and recent graduates to look at how NATO can increase solidarity amongst its members, improve defense planning, learn from its mistakes, and prepare for future challenges. Participants have to submit a short article (only 700 words required) and can choose one of four topical categories.

We will publish all well-argued articles! Ten authors in each category will be selected for an online policy workshop to write a joint memorandum to policymakers and NATO leaders. Five winners will be given a fully covered trip to Germany and Poland this September to present the policy memo.

Please help us strengthen transatlantic relations by incorporating young voices into the policy debate and encouraging collaboration with their peers from across the Alliance.

We would be grateful if you informed your contacts about this competition; either by forwarding this email or sharing the link below:

The competition is open to all citizens of NATO member countries aged 28 or younger.

Participants don’t have to be experts! We welcome new perspectives and bold ideas. The deadlines for submissions depend on the category chosen and range from June 19 to July 10, 2016.

Please do not hesitate in contacting me for any query, comment or concern.

Thank you very much!

Kind regards,
