Having worked for Ambassador Crocker, I am happy to see him win this weel-deserved recognition. A great American, he has served his country for decades. In the 80s he and his wife were in the embassy in Beirut when it was blown up. Each thought the other dead. When Ambassador to Syria his home was invaded by a "spontaneous mob" while his wife hid in a closet. Ambassador to Pakistan and Iraq.

A true patriot.
