Colonel Eric Walters is currently the Assistant Chief of Staff, G2, for Marine Corps Forces Command in Norfolk, Virginia. He was the G2/Senior Intelligence Officer for 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing in Operation Iraqi Freedom I and was the Joint Task Force J2 supporting U.S. humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts in the wake of the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. As a captain, Colonel Walters led the intelligence detachment supporting the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force executing humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts in the wake of the Mount Pinatubo explosion in the Philippines in 1991. He subsequently served in South America providing intelligence to U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. military, and host nation military and law enforcement charged with illegal drug interdiction. In 1994 he was the wargame and book reviewer for the MODERN WAR television show, hosted by William S. Lind and Bruce Gudmundsson. Colonel Walters holds a Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence (Soviet Concentration) from Defense Intelligence College and a Master of Arts in Military Studies (Honors in Land Warfare) from American Military University. He has taught Command and Staff College, Amphibious Warfare School, and Expeditionary Warfare School for the College of Continuing Education, Marine Corps University, and courses in tactical intelligence, military science, land warfare, and military history for American Military University.
