Richard L. Dixon, Jr.

BIO

Lieutenant Colonel Richard L. Dixon, Jr., USAR is currently mobilized in support of Special Operations Command Joint Training (SOC-JC) in Suffolk, Virginia.  He was commissioned through Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA in 1989.  LTC Dixon graduated cum laude with a BA in Sociology from San Diego State University in 1987.  He earned a Med with distinction in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University in 2005 and a MMAS in General Military Studies from the Command and General Staff College in 2008.  LTC Dixon wrote the first thesis on PTSD in CGSC’s history.  He has served a total of 24 months in Afghanistan and was diagnosed with chronic PTSD after his first deployment in 2006.  His brother Greg, also diagnosed with PTSD, committed suicide in 2006.  When not on active duty, LTC Dixon is a Sergeant with the Tucson, Arizona Police Department and has 18 years of service.
