Lawrence M. Doane

Larry Doane is a U.S. Army Major currently serving as a Congressional Fellow in Washington, DC where he is pursuing a Master's degree in Legislative Affairs from George Washington University. MAJ Doane's assignments include combat tours as a platoon leader in Iraq and cavalry troop commander in Afghanistan as well as assignments to Headquarters, Department of the Army and National Guard Bureau.  He is a distinguished graduate of the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and holds a Master's degree in Military Studies from the Marine Corps University. The creation of operational level of war between strategy and tactics in U.S. doctrine resulted from a misunderstanding of the operational art and its relationship to both strategy and tactics.
